Matt Konenkamp was born and raised in Rapid City, South Dakota. After graduating from Stevens High School, Matt attended the University of South Dakota where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. After completing his undergraduate studies Matt went on to the University of South Dakota Law School. While in law school Matt was selected to serve on the Law Review Board as the Note & Comment Editor. Matt also served as the student faculty recruiting adviser. After graduating Matt was hired by the Presiding Judge of the Sixth Circuit to serve as the law clerk for the Sixth Circuit. As the law clerk for the Sixth Circuit Matt helped to draft legal opinions relating to administrative appeals, circuit court opinions for the judges of the Sixth Circuit and South Dakota Supreme Court opinions for the then acting Supreme Court Justice Max Gors. After completing his one year appointment to the Sixth Circuit Matt joined the firm of Banks, Johnson Colbath Sumner & Kappelman LLP as an associate. Matt practiced with Banks Johnson Colbath Sumner & Kappelman for three and a half years and then left the practice of law to take a short term role with a management company, where he set up and managed a real estate company on behalf of two investors. After successfully setting up that company, Matt decided it was time to return to the practice of law. Matt practices in the areas of litigation, contracts, estate planning, real estate transaction, bankruptcy, business litigation and entity preparation.

Aside from practicing law, Matt believes strongly in community service and has therefore spent a great deal of time working with local charities. Matt served as the President of the Rapid City Area Jaycees, a charitable organization that focuses almost entirely on providing for underprivileged or disabled children, as the Director of Toys For Tots for Western South Dakota, as the Chairman of the YMCA Kids Campaign and as an organizer of Children's Care Hospital annual fundraiser. Matt currently serves on the Foundation Board of Western Dakota Tech and on the Board of the Salvation Army.

Matt is married to Joslyn Konenkamp and they have a two little boys named Jack and Luke.

Bret Merkle has been representing injured people since 1991. Bret is a trial attorney specializing in the area of bodily injury and insurance claims. He graduated with a law degree and an MBA degree, and is a staff instructor with the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College.
